Skoda has faced sluggish growth in terms of car sales in the Indian market, primarily attributed to slow updates in their vehicle lineup and a focus on premium offerings. The latest development is the imminent launch of the 2024 Skoda Superb in global markets, with teaser images providing a sneak peek into the car’s appearance.

Exterior Design of the 2024 Skoda Superb:

The upcoming Superb won’t undergo a major design overhaul, retaining a resemblance to its predecessor, as evident from the teaser images. However, it will feature stylish alloy wheels that enhance its premium sedan aesthetics, lending it a sportier appeal. Enthusiasts seeking a stylish sedan will appreciate the Superb for its charismatic appearance. Notably, the front design takes inspiration from the Slavia, offering a fresh look. Skoda is also revamping the rear profile, promising an improvement over the previous model sold in India. This is an exciting development for the Indian market.

Interior of the 2023 Skoda Superb:

The interior of the new Superb has undergone a complete redesign, albeit not reaching the stellar levels of its predecessor. New features include an updated touchscreen and a fully digital instrument cluster. Skoda is expected to introduce advanced features such as Laura’s voice assistant and ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance Systems) to make the Superb more competitive. This move addresses Skoda’s previous lag in feature offerings, potentially becoming a unique selling point. Additionally, features like an electronic parking brake and knobless gear shifter will be available. However, traditional stick shifting, favoured by car enthusiasts, will be missed.

Performance of the Superb:

The Superb will come equipped with both a 1.5-litre TSI petrol engine and a 2-litre diesel engine. While the diesel option may not align with the global shift towards petrol and electric vehicles, the 2-litre TSI petrol engine will be available with various tuning options internationally. If the Superb makes its way to the Indian market, it is expected to feature a 2-litre petrol engine with a 7-speed DSG transmission.

Chances of the Superb Launching in India:

Due to the relatively small market for premium sedans in the country, it appears that the introduction of the Superb in India is limited in prospects. India predominantly favors affordable cars suitable for middle-class families. Suggestions recommend that Skoda should prioritize updating models like the Kushaq and should consider offering budget SUVs priced under 15 lakhs to cater to the demands of the Indian market. Furthermore, Skoda needs to build a brand reputation akin to that of BMW and Mercedes to enhance the Superb’s potential for success in the Indian market.
