Least Selling Cars in India
10. Skoda Kodiaq

The Skoda Kodiaq used to come with only a diesel engine. Many buyers bought the Kodiaq because of the diesel engine. Indian car buyers prefer a luxurious SUV with a diesel engine. Skoda doesn’t offer a diesel engine in the Kodiaq in comparison to its rivals in this segment. The Fortuner has better brand Value due to which Kodiaq has very less sales.
Sales of Skoda Kodiaq in March 2023 – 416 Units
9. Jeep Compass

There was a time when Compass was a stellar product in its segment. This product used to give competition to Hyundai Tuscon in its segment. The only main reason why Compass didn’t sell well is the pricing of the product. Indian car buyers have the option of purchasing the Tuscon instead of the Compass with more features for the same price. Jeep Compass is no doubt a stunning product with great off-road capabilities but Jeep needs to update the car as per the premium it demands from customers.
Sales of Jeep Compass in March 2023 – 395 Units
8. Maruti Ciaz

A lot of options are available in the sedan segment like the new Honda City and the Hyundai Verna. Even Skoda Slavia and Volkswagen Virtus are also available in this segment. Maruti Suzuki should now update the Ciaz as its outdated in its segment. This sedan can do better if Maruti brings the new 6-speed automatic gearbox.
Another reason responsible for the sales of Ciaz is the declining demand for sedans in India. Nowadays, everybody needs a practical SUV that’s stylish as well as loaded with features.
Sales of Maruti Ciaz in March 2023 – 300 Units
7. Jeep Meridian

The Jeep Meridian is very much better than the Toyota Fortuner in terms of features. Many people in India still love the Fortuner as it established itself as a status symbol in India. Jeep doesn’t have a higher brand value than Toyota due to which everyone demands Fortuner. If Jeep gets a better diesel engine then maybe the car can fare well against the Fortuner.

6. MG Gloster

Morris Garages launched the Gloster in India with a lot of features. The best part was about Autonomous driver assists systems that are present in the car. It has great cabin space on offer but it lacks brand value like Toyota Fortuner. This model never made its debut like it was a mafia SUV and it also lacks resale value. Everyone in India looks for status and that’s where Gloster is way behind the Fortuner.
Sales of MG Gloster in March 2023 – 247 Units
5. Toyota Hilux

Toyota launched a product after a long time in 2022 that was not a rebadged product. Indian market doesn’t require a pickup truck because of practicality and narrow roads. The Hilux is an overpriced product that lacks features just like the Fortuner. It would have been better if Toyota focussed on bringing a Kia Sonet competitor to gain sales. Pickup trucks have great space and off-road capabilities but it’s massive in terms of dimensions.
Sales of Toyota Hilux in March 2023 – 223 Units
4. Kia Carnival

Kia has brought the older generation of the Carnival to India. It was great in terms of practicality and also had a lot of features. The main issue with the Carnival is that it has a new generation outside India. No one would buy a car that’s launched in India but feels outdated in global markets. There are chances that the next generation will soon launch in India as Kia showcased it at Auto Expo 2023. One can expect that the next generation can give a boost in terms of sales.
Sales of Kia Carnival March 2023 – 178 Units
3. Volkswagen Tiguan

The Volkswagen Tiguan has the capability to get better sales if the Brand updates the Tiguan. It’s an overpriced 5-seater SUV which has a fabulous petrol engine but not the features as per the price. Many people in India demand a diesel SUV like a Fortuner that has great brand value or even a luxury car.
Sales of Volkswagen Tiguan March 2023 – 132 Units
2. Citroen C5 Aircross

Citroen made its debut in India with the C5 Aircross SUV. This SUV comes with a 2-litre Fiat-sourced diesel engine in the Indian market. It also gets better ride quality than the brand claims in its advertisement. The only reason why the Citroen C5 is on the list of least-selling cars in March 2023 is its pricing. There should be better features on offer as no one in India would buy an overpriced SUV.
Sales of Volkswagen Tiguan March 2023 – 52 Units
1. Honda WRV

Honda WRV was the best-selling SUV from Honda when it made its debut in India. It sold really well during its debut in India and that’s because of the sunroof on offer. Nowadays, every single rival of the WRV is offering a sunroof and some more premium features. The WRV got an underpowered petrol engine like the Jazz. The brand didn’t update the car with better features to chase the competition. Even Maruti Suzuki is also launching the Fronx that’s more VFM than the WRV. If the brand brings the new SUV that they were planning then surely they can sustain in India.
