Maruti Suzuki starts Jimny 5-door production before the launch

Maruti Suzuki has commenced the series production of the Jimny 5-door at its Gurugram plant. The highly anticipated SUV is set to hit the Indian market next month after gaining over 25,000 bookings since its global debut in January at the Auto Expo 2023.

According to sources, Maruti is expected to announce the prices for the Jimny in the first week of June, with deliveries starting a week later. The waiting period for the manual gearbox-equipped variants of the Jimny stands at approximately six months, while the automatic variant has a waiting period of seven-eight months. The Jimny will be offered in four variants, with the top-spec Alpha trim being the likely priority for production. Bluish Black, Kinetic Yellow and Pearl Arctic White are the popular colour choices among buyers, according to dealers.

Maruti Suzuki aims to produce around 1 lakh units of the Jimny annually, with 66% designated for domestic sales and the rest for exports. The company is expected to allocate roughly 7,000 units per month for the Indian market. Stay tuned for more updates on Jimny’s India launch and pricing.

The Jimny 5-door will offer customers a choice of seven colour schemes, including Bluish Black, Kinetic Yellow with Bluish Black Roof, Sizzling Red with Bluish Black Roof, Nexa Blue, Sizzling Red, Granite Grey, and Pearl Arctic White.

Maruti Jimny Specifications

The Jimny SUV is equipped with a 1.5-litre K15B petrol engine that delivers 105 horsepower and comes paired with either a 5-speed manual or a 4-speed torque-converter automatic gearbox. All the available variants of the Jimny are equipped with Suzuki’s AllGrip Pro 4WD, along with a manual transfer case and a low-range gearbox that offers ‘2WD-high’, ‘4WD-high’ and ‘4WD-low’ modes.
