Tata Motors the biggest automobile manufacturing company in India with an extensive range of passenger, commercial and defence vehicles in its portfolio has come with its all-new Tata Altroz iTurbo. Tata Motors has launched the i-Turbo variant of their premium Hatchback Altroz. It’s the safest car in India as it has scored a 5 Star rating on the Global NCAP crash test, one of the few cars to achieve so.
Tata offers the Altroz iTurbo in three Variants – XT, XZ and new XZ+. The price of Altroz may vary according to the variants and fuel choice. Petrol Variant starts at 7.74 Lakh to 8.86 Lakh whereas its Diesel Variant starts at 8.29Llakh to 9.46 Lakh.
The petrol version of the car weighs 1036 kg while the diesel version tips the scales at 1150 kg. The car comes with Eco and Drive mode as standard. Tata Altroz is engineered on the ALFA (Agile Light Flexible Advanced) Architecture with lightweight, modular and flexible characteristics. The iTurbo Tata Altroz is equipped with 1.2L, 3 Cylinder Turbo Charged Petrol Engine, the same as its big brother Tata Nexon.
Altroz produces 108 BHP with a maximum torque of 140 Nm. Compared to standard Tata Alroz it generated 28% more power at 25% more torque. With Tata Altroz iTurbo Tata motors have entered the niche market of Turbo Petrol Premium Hatchbacks, its only rival, for now, are Volkswagen Polo, which comes with a 1.0 Turbocharged TSI Engine and the Hyundai i20 that shares it Turbo Petrol Unit with the Venue.
The base variant of Tata Altroz comes equipped with ABS with EBD and CSC. ABS with EBD is made mandatory by the government under BNVSAP norms. But Tata has gone a step ahead and provided Cornering Stability Control (CSC) as an addition in all its cars, ensuring safer cars for India.
Altroz comes equipped with features such as dual-chamber projector headlamps, R16 dual-tone laser cut alloy wheels, floating island dashboard layout, flat-bottom steering wheel, follow me home headlamps, rear armrest, infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay and much more.

Tata’s Altroz iTurbo is a good 19mm longer, 73mm wider and 54mm taller, with a 32mm longer wheelbase than the Volkswagen, though the latter’s ground clearance is 3mm higher.
However, the i20 is 5mm longer, 20mm wider, and has a 79mm longer wheelbase than the Altroz compared to the Polo, the i20 wheelbase is a significant 111mm longer.
